Not all of our Rockets teams got to play this weekend with over 65 local games rained-out*, but there were some bright spots for those that did get to take the field on Sunday; some cramming a whole two-day tournament into just a few hours.
The 14u Blue team played in the CT Titans Fall Showdown on Sunday. Autumn M and Brianna J both had hits to help their offense. Makenzie M was a defensive stand-out at 1B and participated in the 14u Blue team's first double-play of the season; a 4-3-2 move that included 2B Marissa D and Catcher Brigid L to get a runner attempting to score from 2nd.
Our 14u Red team waited out the rain to eventually take the field at Hatters Fest in Danbury. Evangeline S led her team from the circle firing 3 scoreless innings in their win over the CT Jades. Jillian S and Nora A led the offense with 3 hits apiece on the weekend with Nora just one HR away from the cycle!
16u Futures traveled to Bridgeport for a friendly double header on the beautiful turf at Cal Ripken field. Tara M, our Rockets Player of the Week, batted 1.000 on the weekend with 2 hits including a HR to the fence! Pitching staff Madison E, Lyla K, and Zoie B pitched a combined 8.1 innings and gave up only 5 walks and 7 hits. The defense was near perfect with only 1 error in two games.
16u Morris played 3 games on Sunday in the USSSA Apple Valley Mayhem event at Panthorn Park. Class of 2026 Haylie M, Jackie M, and Kylie M batted a combined average of .555 and Olivia F '26 drove in 4 in the Rockets' win over the 16u Rapids. Lilly "Chilly" F had the defensive highlight of the day diving to tag a runner before they reached 3B. Check out the play on our Instagram page, @rocketsfastpitchsoftball.
12u Rockets took the weekend off, but are heading to Trumbull to take on the Timberwolves this coming Saturday, October 7th.
16u Select will be scrimmaging two local teams this week in preparation for their upcoming "Queen of the Hill" tournament set to take place October 14th and 15th.
